True To Your Style Brownie.
Here’s my take on a rich melt in your mouth brownie…
Brownies should be gooey, melty, really chocolatey and rich. But it need not be the same for you. The ingredients for a basic brownie are
Butter 1/2 cup
Sugar 1/2 cup
Brown sugar 1/2 cup
Vanilla 1 tsp
Coco powder 1/3 cup
Flour 1/2 cup
Salt a pinch
Baking powder 1/4 tsp
Chocolate chunks.. 1/2 cup
Now here is the thing..this is the basic brownie recipe..when I had made this..it was too sweet to my taste and not chocolaty enough. The “richness” that I wanted was missing.
So here are my tweaks:
Eggs 2
Eggs 2
Butter 3/4 cup
Sugar 1/2 cup (omit this)
Brown sugar 1/2 cup ( or omit this)
Vanilla 1 tsp (1/4 tsp)
Coco powder 1/3 cup
Flour 1/2 cup
Salt a pinch
Baking powder 1/4 tsp
Chocolate chunks.. 1/2 cup ONE AND A HALF CUP :)) one cup of dark chocolate and half a cup of milk chocolate.
Walnuts 1/2 cup
SO NOW YOU KNOW WHY THE BROWNIES I MAKE ARE AMAZING!! RIGHT??
THE REASON FOR THE CHANGES:
1. Butter: The cause and answer to the richness and the silence of your consumers..instead of half a cup, make it a 3/4 cup..
2. Sugar: You can use just brown sugar instead of regular white.
3. Vanilla: If you get the real bean..wonderful…otherwise if its a store bought one stick to 1/4 tsp of vanilla…you want the chocolate flavour to be enhanced not overpowered.
4. Flour: If you want to feel guilt free from all the butter and sugar replace the flour with almond flour.
5. Chocolate chunks: I was pretty generous..I added one and a half..cut to small chunks.. I used dark chocolate and milk chocolate ...mixed half of them in the batter and then sprinkled some after in poured the batter in the pan..
6. Walnuts: cut them to smaller pieces and swirl them with the chocolate pieces which are on the top…
Bake them for 11-15 mins max at 160 degrees..not more..put a fork to check! The top layer will be shiny and crusty…the true sign of a wonderful brownie.
this serves 4-6 people...that is if you are willing to share...
The process
Beat butter, sugar and eggs till light and fluffy. Add the flour, coco powder, and baking powder and beat them gently till well incorporated. Mix in the chocolate chunks (preferably cut to small pieces) and pour it on to a 6 * 6 tray. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate pieces and walnuts on the top. At the 11 minute, take the pan out and using a knife make a figure 8 pattern all over the brownie.. so the milk and dark chocolate chunks on the top will swirl together to form a beautiful marbled effect on the top. Put it back in the oven and bake it further for another 5-7 minutes..
Cool the brownie properly before cutting as It might crumble if you cut it when it is hot. It will be pretty gooey and dripping with chocolate so please don't expect the most perfectly shaped brownie. As promised this will be the most rich moist and chocolate drenched brownie you have ever had.
So..do let me know how they turned out.
Awww Jeena, my love. The brownies look soo yummy and chocolaty. The walnuts being a perfect partner of the brownie with a gentle drizzle of chocolate sauce. Am drooling here. 😆. Having brownies with a cup of coffee and a good novel. What a divine feeling. Jeena, would like to share the above moment with you . Love you dear
